What is meant by sandwich panel?

A sandwich panelconsists of three parts: an outer layer, a core, and a backing. The process is called sandwich because the materials are "sandwiched" together.

What is the most important property of a sandwich panel?

In this section, we will go into more detail about the different characteristic that make up our sandwich wall panel system. Our panels offer a range of benefits for any project. They not only provide insulation for cold and hot climates, but also help to reduce sound as well as air infiltration.

R-Value

The R-Value is a measure of thermal resistance. It is the quotient of the insulation's ability to resist heat flow divided by the conductance of heat through it; It is determined by how well it resists heat flow and is measured in units called "R-value."The higher the R-value is, the more resistant it is to heat flow across its thickness and the better insulation it provides against heat loss through convection or conduction.

Thermal properties

Thermal properties, or thermal resistance, is a measure of how well a material can hold heat in or out. It is usually measured in units of m²°C/W, which is the area of an object multiplied by its temperature difference relative to the surroundings divided by the power input.

The most common thermal insulation materials used today are fiberglass and mineral wool. The structure and composition of these materials will determine their thermal properties. For example, if fibers have an air-filled interface with each other and have low density then they will provide high air flow resistance (Thermal Resistance). On the other hand if fibers have a dense interface with each other then they will provide low air flow resistance

Core materials

Core materials play a crucial role in the construction of double-skin walls. The core material’s performance is determined by its insulating properties, thermal conductivity, weight, and compressibility. There are many materials used for insulation such as polyisocyanurate (PIR), polyurethane (PUR), polystyrene (PU), expanded polystyrene (EPS or XPS), thermoplastic polyurethane (TPS) and glass wool. They provide insulation and stability to the outer layer. And they also prevent condensation in cold or humid environments.
