Polyisocyanurate, or PIR, is a fireproof thermal insulation material derived from polyurethane. It’s an excellent heat insulation foam.
While PIR (Polyisocyanurate) and PUR (Polyurethane) share similar base materials, their composition and structure differ in two key ways:
Material Composition:
• Higher MDI concentration in PIR
• Uses polyester-based polyol instead of polyether polyol
Chemical Structure:
• Unique trimerization of isocyanate groups
• Forms strong isocyanurate bonds
• Creates complex polymer network
PIR Sandwich Panels Characters:
• Reliable insulation with a low thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/mK.
• Excellent water resistance, preventing water absorption.
• Lightweight, making them a superior choice over polystyrene-cored panels.
• Cost-effective while still delivering the key benefits of PIR panels.
• Strong resistance to mold, fungi, and pest damage.

Due to its excellent thermal performance, it is widely used for cold rooms, cooling rooms, walk-in cold rooms, and modular walls and roofs. It is also used for flooring.
